Scientific Name: Ormosia macrocalyx Ducke

Other Common and Commercial Names: Alcornoque, coralillo, peronil, cabresto, palo de collar, janeiro, nené, conejito colorado

Appearance: Rounded cup. Trunk with small board roots at the base. Outer bark grayish or brown, sometimes with white spots, sometimes with white spots. Terminal twigs of green color.

Characteristics: There are no differences in heartwood color and sapwood. It dries quickly.

Working Properties: Easy to use on all machines.

Uses: Wood is used in joinery, carpentry, boat keels, turnery, bridges and railway sleepers. Collars and earrings are made with the seeds.
